In recent years, computer navigation system has been improved rapidly in the orthopaedics. Compared with the traditional surgery, surgery under computer navigation has higher accuracy and better security. Its initial application was in spinal surgery, but it was gradually extended to the joint surgery to improve the accuracy of joint prosthesis placement. The system is mainly composed of navigation operation tools, surgical tool tracer, navigation system display screen and workstation, with three types of active system, passive system and semi-active system. By the review of the literature, the author found that computer navigation and robot assisted unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) can significantly improve the accuracy of prosthesis placement and the lower limb force lines. The short-term clinical effects are reliable, but the long-term effects need further clinical observation.
